Whatever happened to the Mozley MGS machine? Is it still manufactured, or used, or has it been superceded by the modern centrifugal devices- Falcon, Knelson etc? Indeed, what has happened to Mozley Ltd? Dont seem to hear of the company these days- does it still exist?

The Mozley Multi-Gravity Separator is very much alive and well and competing successfully in the area where it is best suited - the separation and upgrade of fine metals and minerals, particularly in the region 5 - 100 microns. We now sell 3 different sized machines: a laboratory unit and 2 full scale units, with the largest being capable of treating 20 - 40 t/hr. As a company, we have had two changes of ownership in the last few years and are now part of the US Natco Group (www.natcogroup.com), although our trading name is Axsia Mozley Ltd. If you want further information on our MGS machine, please contact me on idaniels@axsia.com

Further to this, it is many years since I was involved with gravity sepration, but I see that all the news now seems to revolve around enhanced gravity concentration. Do people still use shaking tables, and are they still manufactured? I suppose I could ask the same of jigs, spirals, Reichert Cones etc

Shaking Tables are certainly in the marketplace. Holman-Wilfley Ltd manufacture a range of sizes of Holman and Wilfley type. Over 50 Holman full size units (model 8000) have been supplied inot mienral sands, tantalum and gold projects in 2005. For selectivity they are still unmatched in the right applications at appropriate capacity and are often linked with enchanced gravity devices for final cocnentration. For specific details please contact chris.bailey@holmanwilfley.co.uk

There is no doubt that the application of some of these techniques -tables, jigs, spirals and cones - have reduced in recent time; but there are quite a lot of work going on in the research community to reposition them for a more efficient application in today's industries.

About the Mozley Multi-Gravity Separator... Does anyone have experience to share on using this device to recover gold, particularly fine placer gold? What sort of gold recovery has been achieved by the Mozley MGS, and how closely must the feed first be screened?

Mozley has carried out several successful trials on gold with our MGS, although experience with placer gold has been variable. We do not have an MGS currently operational on Gold, but I would be happy to send details on our trials to date, if you wish to contact me on idaniels@mozley.co.uk
