Hi I read about Preg robbing on a thread a while back. I have head grades of 6 ppm and tails of 2ppm so 4 ppm should have been absorbed into the cyanide solution. But analysis shows I only have 0.6 ppm.....where could my gold be? Is it Preg robbing?

Hi tgraham,
If your head solids are 6 g/t and your tails solids are 2 g/t then 4 g/t has been dissolved in solution.
Depending on the solid to solution ratio you would have a different solution gold concentration. If it is 0.6 mg/L then you would need to have a very low percent solids in the leach or the balance does not work.
Preg robbing can not be blamed for a bad mass balance for gold. The gold either has to be in the solids or the solution that leaves the test. If it is in the solids, then some of this lost gold may be attributed to proeg robbing, but only CIL versus CIP tests will be able to confirm that.
Best of luck
Adam
